This morning I read an article on a train crash that killed 8 people and left dozens of people wounded. The speeding train carrying hundreds of commuters slammed into an empty train near Rio de Janeiro on Thursday, killing eight people and injuring more than 80. The commuter train was traveling at nearly 60 mph when it slammed into the rear end of an empty six-car train maneuvering slowly from one track to another. Some passengers aboard the commuter train had to be freed by rescue workers using blowtorches to cut through the twisted wreckage. Brazil's government-run Agencia Brasil news service said 84 people were injured, while the Web site of Globo TV said the number reached 101.
Personally, the whole event is sad but the only thing worse than what happenened to the victims, is that the government tried to lie about it. If anything, they should been honest, apologized, and tried to make it safe to avoid this from happening.
-The san diego union tribune -Work travel and pedal -The article that I read today was about turkish students. It says that soon the young turks will be heading home. They are a prevalent but largely unrecognized subculture of San Diegos embarcadero and gaslamp quarter. Most pedal bycicle cabs others sell t-shirts and some work in restaurants‘. Back in turkey they are university students. They come on four months visas under a work travel program. They say it is a good program for a trip to America. -I think that this article is interesting. I didn’t know about how they were turkish students. That’s probably because I don’t really go downtown. -One interesting thing I learned is that they are under a work travel program. I think that is pretty cool.
Hot times to continue over holiday and beyond Hot weather can make people pretty desperate. When they're looking at a three-day weekend with no air conditioning, this is bad. Ellice Bordieri scheduled maintenance for Bob Jenson Air Conditioning & Heating in El Cajon. Repair and installation calls have increased in the past few days, she said. If the air conditioning is in demand this much, she says break out the fans. This weather is expected to continue through the holiday weekend and into next week. Temps reached the 80s yesterday in coastal areas and the upper 90s inland. Mountain temperatures were undetermined because of scattered thunderstorms.
I think this weather will continue like this for the rest of the weekend too because it hasn’t changed. I like how it is where I live I just feel sorry for the people that have to live in those temperature. I’d hate to live in these types of weather conditions.
Union Tribune- Utah mine families try to come to terms with end of rescue efforts. I have read a small article about the Miners trapped in a mine for weeks now. People don’t think that they are alive anymore. Some people are coping with this situation better than others. They have to cope with the fact that the miners are not going to turn up any time soon. On August sixth a mountain shudder caused mine ribs to shatter trapping six miners. It is not know whether they survived initial collapse. Also three workers were working under ground were killed in a second collapse on August 16. Rescue workers drilled seven holes into the mountain in search of the men. After a robotic camera was stuck in the mud on Friday the officials decided to end the search. Sadly there is no hope of finding these miners. People do not know how to deal with it. I think that the officials did try a lot to find the workers but it is just to dangerous. I believe that they did try and no matter what they will not find them. Other people are dying because they are trying to find the miners.

No record temperatures were set in the mountains.
