Thousands of years ago, North America was a place where the buffalo roamed and the deer and the antelope prayed-prayed because it was also the home to many large predators, including cheetahs capable of chasing down a pronghorn antelope, the world second fastest land animal. Now, of course the cheetahs are gone pushed to extinction by over hunting and cataclysmic environmental changes spawned at least in part by human settlement some 10,000 years ago. Most of the largest animals are gone, mega fauna that once dwelled here, wild horses and asses, several kinds of mammoth, lions, camels and giant tortoises among them. They are over built having evolved the ability to outrun a predator that no longer exists. While that may be good news for the surviving antelopes, their world is, in fact, much poorer for it. The cheetahs, wolves and lions were not just pretty ornaments of nature. The whole ecosystems depend upon them. When keystone predators are removed ecosystems implode. I also read that Asian elephants are more closely related to North American mammoths than they are to African elephants. They also fill the same environmental space. Maintaining the health of grasslands and inhibiting the spread of woodlands.
If you built it without permits, they will make you tear it down.
In Danville, a father of an 11 year old son built an 18,000- square foot Little League practice field he built for his son because he felt bad for always missing his sons afternoon practices. David Lowe, the father, did not have a permit to have the field built. He spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to build it. The neighbors in the multi-million dollar houses below the ridge compare that ball field to the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba because of its highly visible 14 foot fence. David Lowe offered to lower the fence. Town officials have already made a vote to have it be torn down.
I think it is sad how he spent so much money on building the ball park just for his son. He spent so much money on it, and he will not get it back. I think they should just let him get away with it for now, and lower the fence.
Soul Mates
Do you believe in soul mates? There are some that do truly believe there is an existence of a soul mate but there are also others that believe it is all a myth. This passage is based upon a relationships. The day Mike and his wife firs met was at their friends party when they where 11 and 12. their eyes first met on a porch at their friends house meanwhile at the party. As hours past and night came in they found themselves in a long conversation between the two. Separate from the others, the commotion, and drama. After the day they had past together talking about each other, and getting to know one another. They got together, but then later broke up after a month full of confusion they separated. Although they were separate, they both hung out in the same group. So they would always see each other. And would eventually talk as friends. They would both go through things like ex-girlfriends and boyfriends. Broke hearts and crying over stupid boys. But her mother would always tell her, that she would end up with Mike. That he was a good guy, and besides that he always some how seemed to come up into her conversations. After days past and he went away to Mexico for a Spanish program, that when she had really realized that she really did miss him and spending time together. As he came back from his trip he went to go visit her, and that’s when they realized that they were really meant for each other. That’s when they finally decided to actually consider them selves a couple. So then they spread their news and people weren’t so surprised but actually, said “finally.” One thing I liked about this article that its shows that there really is such thing as soul mates something that I never really believed in. What I learned about this story is that if someone really likes you or is meant to stay together with you, you’ll always find them by your side.

-The article that I read today was about the billionaire Leona Helmsleys pooch. It says that the pooch will go on living in the lap of luxury. Once called the queen of mean Helmsley cut two of her grandchildren out of her 4 billion fortune. But she left her largest bequest to Trouble, her tiny white Maltese. A source said the 12 million trust was created to care for the dog. The dog once starred in ads for the Helmsley Hotels. Helmsley who died last week at age 87 set aside billions for charity and loved ones in a will made public Tuesday. But no one made out better than trouble not even Leona's brother, Alvin Rosenthal, who was left 10 million. Will details how Helmsley and trouble are to spend the afterlife in an ornate mausoleum she ordered to be washed or steamed cleaned at least once a year. Two grandchildren were frozen out of the will. The outcasts are among the four children born to Helmsleys only son, Jay Panzirer who died in 1982. the others David and Walter Panzirer will get 5 million each. This is only if they go by grandmas rule, which is visiting their fathers grave once a year.
-I think that this article is very interesting. I wonder what the dog did to her so that she leave 12 million dollars to him. At this time I wish I was that dog.
-One interesting thing that I learned is that Helmsley was locked up for tax evasion. She famously said “only the little people pay taxes.” and that she left 100 thousand for her chauffer.
Today I read about FBI looks into bomb threats at stores. There was large grocery and discount stores in at least 11 states have been targeted in the past week by a caller who threatens to blow up shoppers and workers with a bomb if employees fail to wire money to an account overseas law enforcement authorities said yesterday. The FBI and police are investigating similar bomb threats at more than 15 stores across the country including a Vons supermarket in Vista on Friday. He often claims to be able to see inside the store but officials believe he was making it up. The first of the treats that federal investigators are aware of came Aug. 23 at a Safeway in sandy Ore. They called the incident a robbery attempt that was part of a nationwide scam. The man claimed he could see some workers standing up and order them to sit down.
I think that it was wrong to do that cause that is a lot of people to kill.
The people that were in the store should think of something to do to them.
Will I think that it is good to see all the people at out of life will that’s all I got to say.
This morning I read an article titled Concerns by passenger delay flight. On Tuesday, an American Airline flight was delayed overnight due to a passengers fear of Arabic speaking men on board. A woman with her two children wanted off flight 590. no arrests were made, but harbor Police talked to the woman, the flight crew and four of the six Middle Eastern men. Before boarding, the woman expressed worries, that six men were speaking in a foreign language and showing “strange behavior”. She continued to tell the crew about her concerns after the jet left the gate. The pilot then chose to return to the gate and call the harbor Police. The six Iraqi men work for Defense Training Systems, which is a unit of International Logistics Services Corp., and training Marines at camp Pendleton. The plane left the gate at 11:14 p.m. and went back to the gate at 11:26 p.m. The plane then couldn’t depart because of the airport's 11:30 curfew on departures. I think that this was very unfortunate for all the other passengers affected, even though security is still a major issue in the United States. I feel sorry for the Iraqi men who were prejudged, especially because the were here training our Marines. A lot of people probably missed out on work and other thing just because of one lady’s paranoia. This a very disappointing occurrence. I don’t think American’s should discriminate against anyone because of their race, religion, or what language they are speaking.
RACISM STOPS A PLANE
A WOMAN’S PARANOIA AND PREJUDIST BEHAVIOUR MADE A FLIGHT BE RESCHEDULED. THE WOMAN GOT ON A PLANE WITH HER TWO CHILDREN THEN EXPRESSED CONCERN TO THE FLIGHT ATTENDANTS AND EVEN TO ONE OF THE PILOTS AFTER SIGHTING A GORUP OF ARABIC FEATURES. THE WOMAN ALLEDGEDLY HEARD THE MEN TALKING IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE AND “ACTING IN A STRANGE” BEHAVIOUR. THE WOMAN’S ACUSSATIONS WERE ONLY BASED ON HER PARANOIA SINCE THE MEN WERE NOT DOING ANYTHING WRONG IN FACT THEY WERE PART OF A TRAINING CAMP FOR MARINES AT CAMP PENDLETON AND THEY WORKED WITH THE DEFENSE TRAINING SYSTEMS. THIS COME TO SHOW US HOW PREJUDICED AND STEREOTYPICAL PEOPLE CAN BE.
The article that I read this morning was how many different phone companies are trying to out do the popular I phone. Companies such as nokia have come up with a very similar device known as the ovi. They say that this device holds about 6000 songs it also includes other gadgets like head phones , docking station and speakers it also includes online music stores with millions of tracks from major labels . But nokia is not the only company trying to out due the I phone. There's also Google who are trying to come up with there first mobile phone ever. They said that the phone is going to be called the g phone. Many things are being said like that no one wants to advertise the g –phone because they want half the winnings. Rumors are being spread that this phone is going to out smart the I phone Verizon nokia and all the other phone companies in the running.
Congo deaths blamed on hemorrhagic fever.
This morning i read an article on the hundreds of deaths that occured in Congo about 2 days ago due to a nasty fever that is going around. They say that more then 100 people have died in a remote part of Congo, including those who had attended some funeral or two village chiefs. Health officials fear that its an outbreak of hemorrhagic fever. People began dying after the "suspected fever" after the funeral that they had attended. Many people had died because of the fever. Many adults and very few children.

BEST IN WEST – FOR NOW
For the first time since July 20, the Padres are atop the National League West. This is also the first time this season they are 14 games above .500. The Padres beat Arizona 3-1 last night, their eighth in the past 10 games. This pushed them a percentage point ahead of Arizona. Only 11 days ago, the Padres trailed Arizona by 5 games. We are 7-2, nine games into the toughest part of the season. This is the best we’ve been this season. I think this is going to be a good season. I think we can win the championship. With all this support, we can do this.
We got 73 wins and 59 loses.
This morning I read an article titled, "Homeless encampment near freeway entrance causes concern in Hillcrest." The encampment is near Mission Hills Health Care, a medical convalescent facility. A man named, George Carlson, could not help but be alarmed by a homeless people going in and out of a canyon just busy off Sixth Avenue in Hillcrest near the entrance to Route 163. Carlson sais them staying there makes it more probabal for danger.
The most interesting fact is that the police were not doing there job.
Union Tribune- Drug Cartel’s hit squads take lives along border.
Today I have read a short article on drug cartel. In Laredo, Texas was a 17 year old American in the defense table. The police said that he had already assassinated some of Mexico’s drug lords. The trial last month of Rosalio Reta has cast a spotlight on a new danger along the border. Mexican drug lords locked in a bloody fight for control of a pipeline that runs form Mexico through middle America. In the past two years rival cartels have killed at least seven people in Laredo. Nearly all of the victims were involved in drug trade. The river does not stop these people. For over a year the Gulf Cartel and Sinaloa Cartel have carried out a terrifying blood bath in Nuevo Laredo. Reta admitted being part of a hit squad that was ordered in January 2006 to kill a man who was dating a drug lord’s girlfriend. The Americans mistakenly killed the targets stepbrother. I think that this is very wrong because innocent people die. I think that they should try to find a way to stop this.
