Growing up in a Mexican family I have heard of many myths. Some of them were like real myths and others were just made up by my grandma. Some of them I never really paid any attention to. But others have really scared me. One that I remember is that one about the closet door. Since she likes to keep things organized and clean she told me that if I leave the closet door open at night that monsters come out of it. Since I was little and didn’t know much I believed her. Ever since then I was afraid of leaving it open. Until I realized that she just made it up.

Growing up I have taken part in believing and passing on a few myths. Some myths I knew right away that they were not true but others I believed. First, the myth that says if you step on a crack on the ground, you are cracking your mother's back. Second, the myth that humans evolved from monkeys. Third, that air condition in the car wastes gas. All of these are myths that I don't take seriously.

MYTHS- I’ve been told many myths when I was younger by my family since we are mexican and they like to lie and scare you.
A myth in general means that it is a story or word about someone or something that is used to scare a kid and make them want to do the whole oppsosite and make them do good or to make that person not want to go to that certain place.
A myth is Shamu… because even though you might work there.. There are certain people that go to the back and see millions of shamus, in that case Shamu is NOT real.. It is just a cute name for a whale and it attracts little kids that think he is real. Do not BELIEVE….

I do not believe in any myths. Myths are stories invented by crazy people to comfort people when they are afraid and give them a sense of cultural identity. One myth I’ve heard of is “la llorona”, this myth is based on a lady who supposedly drowned her kids in a river and now they say you can hear her crying for her kids throughout the night. I' am not sure if the myth is true but it is a story to tell if you want to scare children…Witches, warlocks, and psychics are myths. As well as Big Foot, and Loch Ness which are very popular myths that have been told throughout many years.

MYTH? MAYbE? ://

When I was locked up in a Girls Rehabilitation Facility I was told a story by one of the night staff that worked there. She had told me that she was working one night, and she was doing hall check and she heard the phone ringing , so she ran all the way down the hall and picked up the phone. But there was just a dial tone. So right next door to GRF there are units there, its unit 400. Its been empty for quite a while, and rumor has it that a boy killed himself in there in one of the rooms. So while night staff were working they hear knocking down from the annex [ those are the locked rooms] so night staff had said for the knocker to pop [ which means to come out of the room] but no one came out so she went down to the annex and looked in each room but no one was awake, then she heard the phone ringing in unit 400 she opened the door and ran to the phone but it was just a dial tone. By this time she was getting scared so she called over to B-wing [the other side of GRF] and asked them if they were calling her but they said no. Then two girls woke up and said they couldn’t sleep, and they had said that they seen something going into 400.

10 SENTENCES FOR MYTHS

It is said that a myth is a story of something that is false. I have heard many myths such as the Boogieman, the Werewolf, La Llarona, and even Bigfoot. I have been told many off those stories when I was young and some of them I believed for a majority of my childhood. You know how it is: when your'e a kid, you believe everything your parents tell you. When I was young, I especially believed in the monster under my bed. I could never go into my room when there weren't any lights on. 7. Myths date back centuries ago and were told to explain something that nobody had an answer to. When this happened, they would think of a good character and put a story to them. Although the stories have changed over the years, nobody can really put a date on most of the myths. I think that these stories are good to tell your'e kids because even if they are scared, it opens their imagination to the many things they can explore. But on the other hand, if the kids are introduced to the wrong myths, they could receive fears that will be impressed in their minds for the rest of their lives.

Every time I go visit my grandma she tells me all these myths. I really don’t believe them but its just nice hearing them. She lives in a small town and she tell me that every time an owl comes and makes that one noise it means someone is going to suffer a terrible death. I really don’t believe that and I don’t know how she got that. When I was little and my tooth fell my mom would tell me to put them under my pillow and a fairy would come and give me money. I think that is a really sweet myth.

Trough out the years that I have lived I’ve heard many myth and legends. A myth is a story that people make up to comfort them and to explain their origins and explain certain things. I have heard many funny myths others are scary but none have been as ridiculous as the notion of evolution. Many scientist back up this myth and try to give evidence that evolution is what created us. But scientists also believe that they might be intelligent life forces in other planets and that is also funny. Nobody can really tell us what happened millions of years ago in the beginning of time. But it is absurd to think that such complex creatures and such incredible beauty as this world posses can be the creation of an accident or a simple evolution.
