The article I read today was about the first middle school who let kids use birth control. The first middle school to allow it was King middle school. The middle school allows pills and patches. Since 2000 kids were also given condoms. Permission has to be allowed by the parents of the students. Although the treatment is under the state law. It is the kids choice if they want to inform there parents or not. Many studies say that many kids in middle school are having sexual intercourse.
Reflection- I think that it is a good idea that children are receiving pills that they need. It is not good that kids are having sex at a young age, but if they are its good they are doing it in a safe way. I also think that kids should tell there parents if they need birth control or condoms because it informs the parent if there child is having sex.
Interesting Fact- An interesting fact about this article is that 134 students who visited Kings health center during 06-07 are reported to have sexual intercourse.
Today in the business section I read an article about a merging of two organic food companies. Experts are worried since these two companies are the ones that hold ownership of the leading brands of organic and whole foods. This means that when the two companies merge they will hold monopoly over whole food and organic products. The Federal Trade Commission is against this merging because of the risk of putting small business out of work. Yet the court that FTC appealed to in order to block Wild Oats is not on the FTC’s side since they are approving this monopoly. The companies assure that this merge is creating great opportunities for many people and that it is creating many jobs and higher positions on the job force that will benefit the workers and will pay higher salaries
Linda Vista has had a great problem with pigeons taking up certain areas. A man named Wolf who lived in Linda Vista at a time had enough of the pigeons pooping everywhere. Then a chemical used for reducing egg hatching for pigeons has been released. Italy has been using the nicarbazin on pigeons to reduce the population. Scientists say that the food will probably not work as fast as you think it will. It will nearly take years to notice a change. Also, the pigeons and geese are the only birds affected by the food. Scientists are thinking of ways to keep enough food out there for enough pigeons to keep the population going down.
I honestly think that this food is an excellent idea. I cannot stand pigeons flying from everywhere to one spot on the ground for food. I think pigeons are the ugliest birds in life.
Today i read about middle schools letting their kids use birth control. The first school they say did this is King Elementary. They let the kids get pathces and pills. There was about 2,000 students that were issued condoms, they dont have to get the permission from their parents. Even though it is under state law, the kids dont even have to tell their parents about it. Which now everyone says middle school kids are having sexual intercourse.
I think that it is good for them because everyone is haveing sex now and it is better for them to be safe then sorry. I think they shouldnt have to tell their parents about it if they dont want to because some kids and especially girls get really embarrased by such things.
In the first CNN article titled, High resolution image hints at “Mona Lisa’s” eyebrows, I learned of new technology unraveling some of the mystery of the enigma that is the Mona Lisa Painting. Using a 204 million pixel camera with 13 light spectrums Pascal Cotte found pigment that would suggest that the Mona Lisa had eyebrows and eyelashes, over the years and cleanings the eyelashes and eyebrows faded away. Using the same technology he was able to detect that the Mona Lisa’s position of the left hand was slightly different from the first time he painted it he also detected that the hand position was do to a cloth that covered her stomach that has also faded in the years that followed. I am glad that technology is evolving to solve more of the mysteries of the world. The higher resolution camera and what it has shed light on is proof of a still rapidly changing world. In the second article titled, Storms blow through Midwest, I learned of a recent tornado that went near an Oktoberfest celebration injuring several people when a tent got knocked around. One of the injured said that several people including himself went into the tent because it started to drizzle. In the article it also mentioned that the tornado tipped over several trailers at a trailer park.
Now studying the statics of Phillip rivers it is showing that he cant throw a decent pass. He has thrown 7 interceptions and 7 touchdowns. We all can see that Rivers cant finish the big game. He does once in a while throw a decent pass from time to time. Last year the chargers put the load on L.T and he took them to the playoffs but bad coaching and a bad QB lost it for them. Everybody says a health L.T is a healthy chargers not realizing that the chargers need to learn to play like a team. Unlike Rivers counter Brees last year he had a break out season with the saints. This year they have started out rough but they can pick it up with some determination and discipline unlike the chargers they play like a team. But I cant just be basis so I will leave with a Saying” there is still a lot of football that needs to be played”.
Today I read about how much the migrants sent home from the united states to Mexico and India. Migrants that are working in the United States and that have families in another country, they sent more than $300 billion in the year of 2006. India was the country that received the most. Mexico received the second highest. India received $24.5 billion while Mexico received $24.2 billion. China was the third they received $21 billion. The study estimates that 150 million migrants, most of them in Western Europe and North America, regularly send money to their mostly poor relatives in developing countries. Cuba received $983 million in 2006.
Reflection The article I read about today was very interesting. I had never thought that all the money that the migrants that are over here in the United States make, bunch up to send all that money. I think it’s a good thing that people who work here send money to their poor families my family may not be that poor in Mexico but my family over here still sends them money.
Fact An interesting fact that I read in my article was that about 10% of the worlds population depends in some way on the money that migrants here in the United States send to their families.

A new way to thin a flock of messy pigeons.
Linda Vista has had a great problem with pigeons taking up certain areas. A man named Wolf who lived in Linda Vista at a time had enough of the pigeons pooping everywhere.
