- The article that I read today was about a crash that was fatal. The accident happened in Lancaster, California. Markan Rios stood beside a crumpled van on a desert highway, bewildered and trembling as he clung to a white tennis shoe. It belonged to his girlfriend, who had just been whisked away by paramedics, but Rios, a Brazilian tourist who speaks neither English nor Spanish, had no idea where to find her. Another family member stood sobbing nearby and recalled seeing a deep gash across his wife's forehead before she, too, was taken away by ambulance." All my family was in this van, all 11," said Fernando Amaral Pontes, who had blood on his jacket sleeve and side. Rios and Pontes were in one of more than a dozen vehicles that slammed into one another Tuesday during a blinding sandstorm in the high desert north of Los Angeles. The accident killed at least two and injured 16, including nine of the 11 people in Rios and Pontes' van. Two of the injured were in critical condition after the crash that left vehicles scattered across Highway 14, Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Ron Haralson said.
- I think that this article is very sad. It sucks that they could not prevent that accident. It was a natural disaster. I feel sorry for the people that were involved in that.
- one interesting thing that I learned was that The accident happened just west of Edwards Air Force Base and at the northern edge of Los Angeles County. It was about 40 miles northeast from the site of a fiery truck pileup Friday night in a tunnel on the Interstate 5 freeway that killed three people and injured 10.
Chargers new Wide Reciever
This morning Chris chambers was traded to the San Diego chargers. This new addition will give even more weapons to there rosters now with a running game and throwing game, al the chargers need is a quarterback that can stay consists. With the average of 12.8 yards a catch they should have no problems moving down the field quickly and scoring. Lets hope that the chargers can improve there record with this pick up. The chargers are tied for first wit the Kansas city, chiefs. The next time these two tams meet it will be a high scoring game. I think that with the new edition the chargers should have no excuse for dropped balls all they need two now is that Phillip rivers better throw the the ball on thee target every time.

Today I read about balboa park memories.
Balboa Park, full of elaborately decorated buildings and lush gardens, is not all that visitors see. I WANT A GIRLFRIEND
Today I read about the accident on the highway 14 caused by a sandstorm. At least two people died on the accident and there was sixteen injured. There was more than 12 cars involved in the crash. From those sixteen people that were injured two ended in critical condition. The accident took place west of Edwards Air Force Base and at the northern edge of LA county. Until now the crashes are under investigation. Just two hours before this incident there was two other fatal collisions that happened 20 miles north from the pileup. The police think that the other fatal collision was also involved by a sandstorm.
Reflection
I think that all these accidents sound pretty scary. I don’t drive yet but just hearing about all kinds of accidents that happen while driving and stuff scares me. I think people should pay more attention to the road and drive safer.

An important fact that I read about the accident that happened was that the crash left big rigs and passenger cars scattered and bent on the pavement and dirt center divider.
I was reading this article on Giant African Snails. The article went on to explain that the snail was imported to Brazil in 1988. since than the snail have thrived and they have become a pest. The snail was introduced to brazil as a form delicatessen. But in reality there were very little restaurants that wanted the new snail especially because of the different taste and texture of the snail. Since many growers weren’t gaining from the snail they released them into the wild. The snail can grow up to 8 inches long and up to one pound in weight. Since they were released into the wild they have grown exponentially and the population keeps growing. The snails have also grown a parasite that is very harmful for humans. If the snails are digested or even if their trails are stepped on or if humans eat a vegetable partially eaten by the snail humans can become really sick. Fevers, diarrhea, internal bleeding and sometimes even paralysis and blindness can occur. Methods of prevention and eradication need to be taken to protect the population of brazil.
