Whale shot; five tribal member detained This past weekend on Saturday September 8th a California gray whale was found shot in Neah Bay, Washington. Five members from the Makah Indian tribe were accused guilty for this incident. Those five have been handcuffed and detained till further detail. The Makah Indians are stated to have rights to kill whales for native hunts for cultural purposes. But the Coast Guard has also said that information from the whale may state that the killing may have been illegally done. Investigate from the whale also indicated that it had been shot with a .50-caliber machine gun. A witness fisherman stated that he had heard 21 gunshots, and two boats surrounding the whale, then he saw some men pulling in the adult whale attached by harpoon lines closer into the boat. Federal law suits have stated that there is a certain time period and permit that the whales can be hunted. So therefore this may have been an illegal movement. What I think is that may the Federal Government or someone did not indicate to the Makah Indians that they could only hunt within a certain time period and only with a permit. But if they are allowed to hunt for whales then what is the problem? Maybe they should make a new rule.
Today i read abou the chargers and about how they took the chance on five free agents in 2003, which are now the ones that have made the difference in the clubs stunning rise. To a team coming off an 8-8 season and about to go 4-12, five players who went unclaimed in the 2003 draft were signed with a little expectation they would yield some crucial pieces of a chargers team now poised for a super bowl run. Four years later, that group includes perhaps the NFL's best tight end, maybe best left gaurd and also its best special teams player, plus a super-sub defensive lineman and a linebacker about to assume a starting job. Their beingn in San Diego is a convergence of diligence, timing and luck. Among the five is tight end Antonio Gates, whom the Chargers signed for 7,000 and figured he would need a season on the practice squad-since he had'nt played football in college.
I think its good that they took the chance on these five players because they made a big difference in the team. because of them now they are on a good winning streak. They also have the best linebacker and special teams player.
A team of an 8-8 season and were on their way to a 4-12
♥ San Diego Union Tribune ♥ This morning I read an article on Bush's decision to allow Mexian truck drivers into the United States. Some people as if Bush "sucker punched" Uinited States workers and threatened national security by opening the southern border. President James Hoffa said that his decision shows Bush's lack of concern for U.S. security and also added that Bush's biggest problem was that he did not know enough abou truckers and what they are hauling. The government already set up rigorous safety protocols inclufding drug and alcohol testing for drivers by U.S. companies. ♥ Personally, I think that Hoffa is racist becuase it's not only Mexican truck drivers that carry drugs into United States. I feel that Bush is making a good decision as long as every driver is is getting tested and randomly searched from time to time. ♥ Interesting Fact: The U.S. transportation Department granted permission to Mexican truck drivers on Thursday based on the North AMerican Free Trade Agreementn and Mexico in turn granted authority to Stagecoach Cartage & Distribution Inc. in Mexico.
Title: San Diego Union Tribune This article is about a boat believed to be used to smuggle people into the United States washed ashore in La Jolla yesterday morning. San Diego lifeguards were notified at 4:20 a.m. that the 24-foot skipjack was on Wipeout Beach, south of the lifeguard tower at Children’s Pool, city lifeguard Lt. Andy Lerum said. A homeless woman sleeping nearby told lifeguards that she saw about 10 people dressed in black come out of the water and run away. Multiple federal agencies including the Coast Guard and Customs and Border Protection, were investigating. Immigration officials have launched a preliminary investigation to determine who owns the boat. Agents with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s marine unit tried to board the vessel to search for evidence but they were unable because the boat was taking a pounding from the surf and breaking apart. There are a rash of boats stolen from San Diego area recently, it appears the boats were used for transporting illegal immigrants to the U.S.
Downtown parking's already scarce, but it could get worse Just about everyone is talking about parking in downtown. They say it's too pricey and that there's not enough. Depending on what officials are talked to about it, it's going to get better or worse. Downtown activists said the city didn't require developers to include enough parking, especially during the real estate hit earlier this decade. People state that it's not just the guests of downtown residents who face this problem. With busy stores, a bunch of games at Petco Park each season, and hotels, businesses, downtown is attracting many different groups of people who die for those spaces. For the people who can find a spot, prices have been climbing. The median cost for monthly parking downtown is $170, up from $120 five years ago. I think this is a growing problem that does need to be fixed. I like that new businesses coming up but people need places to park to get to those places. I think the alternative for this is to park their car somewhere else and take the daily commute on the trolley. There are 65,000 available spaces in Downtown.
During a DUI checkpoint in Lemon Grove, police chased down a driver who crashed into a patrol car and fired shots at another motorist who attempted to run them down. At 1 a.m. deputies stopped a car, and noticed a passanger making furtive movements in the back and ordered him out. Once the passanger stepped out of the vehicle, the teenage driver stepped on the gas and sped through the parking lot with other passangers nearly hitting deputies near by. At one point, the driver slammed into a patrol car and kept going. He finally bailed out at santo road and ran. A police dog was let loose, and bit the teen down. The teenager was arrested and jailed. He had no valid drivers license. 30 minutes after the chase, deputies spotted a driver in a ford focus who apparently tried to avoid the check point. deputies walked to the car, told him to get out, but he accelerated toward them. Officers feared that they would be ran over, so they shot at the driver before jumping out of the way. The driver drove to Euclid Ave. and fled. A helicopter was needed to find him, and he was arrested. At the checkpoint, 5 people suspected of driving under the influence, and cited 19 others for driving without a license. Police officials say that it is common for people to flee from a checkpoint, but for it to happen twice within 30 minutes, is uncommon.
What i've learned is that, if you are driving, and you don't have your license, or you are paranoid around cops, you better just get your license before you drive around late, and follow all the rules. You can't get away from cops at a checkpoint. Especially when you weren't doing anything wrong in the first place.
The article that I read this morning came from cnn.com and was titled man accused of burying horse alive. This article was about some insane psycho freak that actually tried to burry his horse wile it was still alive and breathing . He had asked a construction worker who was a friend to dig a whole with his tractor to burry his dead horse. But then later the construction worker found out that the horse was still alive and kicking he then called the whole thing of. The man still attempted to do it himself. He may be charged with animal cruelty. I figure that this man was either insane or on something
-The san Diego union tribune -Tenor with glorious voice brought opera to masses. In Calcutta India, devotees across the world including in Tijuana held roman catholic masses, candle professions and interfaith prayers yesterday to mark the 10th anniversary of the death of mother Teresa. Calcutta Archbishop Lucas sikar celebrated a morning mass attended by nuns and volunteers at mother house. The headquarters of the missionaries of charities order she founded in 1950. hundreds of her supporters followed the prayers with candle light processions at clinics and schools that mother Teresa opened. In Calcutta slums and impoverished neighborhoods during her nearly seven decades in India. They offered flowers at her tombs and later participated in in an interfaith prayer session organized by Calcutta's all India minorities. -I think that this article is pretty interesting. Mother Teresa was a very great woman. I think that they are doing right by celebrating the tenth anniversary of her death. -One interesting that I learned is that before she died she had 4000 nuns and ran 600 orphanages,.
Union Tribune: Baja clinic shut down. An alternative health clinic in Baja California was shut down last year. This clinic was linked to the death of Coretta Scott King. It is now opening and may be operating illegally. The Clinic is located in Santa Monica in Rosarito Beach. It appears to be offering the kind of unorthodox care. They are treating cancer patients with insulin or using unproven experimental vaccines. The guy that is running this clinic is Mr. Donsbach and is well known both in the U.S and in Mexico. He also has no medical degree. He has a criminal record including a 1996 felony conviction for tax evasion and smuggling illegal medicines across the border. Many of the patients at the Mexican clinic are being treated for serious ailments including advanced cancer according to the patients. I think it is very wrong what they are doing. They don’t even care that they might me hurting these patients instead of helping them. I think that Mr. Donsbach should go to jail and those people should seek help from real professionals.
Arizona ups lead in the NL West. Arizona starter Brandon Webb took control early. He retired the first nine Giants he faced on the way to his 16th victory. Mark Reynolds and Chris Snyder hit back to back homeruns. It helped Webb to win again as the Arizona Diamondbacks beat San Francisco 9-4 last night. That must be very exciting. Webb probably feels very proud of himself. Also he must feel satisfied with his great victories.
