I don’t know much about slavery. I do know that most African Americans were slaves, and many of them were suffering. I remember being taught about slavery and the way they were treated. They were mistreated badly. For example I know that they were not fed correctly most of them were starved to death. They were whipped if they were not doing their work. A lot of the female slaves were forced to have children, to make more slaves. Even as little kids, there was hard labor. Most slaves were sold to other “white folks”, and not gave away.
What I would like to learn is, how did the slavery start? Who started the Slavery? When did it all come to an end? Why were the slaves treated so badly, and what other ways were the slaves punished? Why was it only that African Americans and not whites were slaves? Why weren’t “white people” slaves as well?

- I don’t know much about the slave trade or slavery. What I know is basically the basic that everyone knows. I just know that Africans were unwilling. They transported them through ships from Africa to the Americas and other places. I know that the route was called the middle passage or something.
- There are many things that I would like to know about slavery and the slave trade. The most important is that when did it start. I would like to know what countries had slavery and what countries were against it. I also want to know when did it end and how it ended. The last thing that I am not sure of is if it still is happening today.

I know that slavery is an ancient tradition dating back to millions of years ago. Most rich or influential people had slaves to do their daily chores for them. Slaves have been used as workers for various tasks such as the construction of the pyramids in Egypt and also as servants in the houses of the rich. It was when the whites started to explore different parts of the world that they decided to either buy or steal the natives to utilize them as slaves. Slavery has been going on forever and unfortunately still goes on today in certain parts of the world.

What I would like to learn is how the actual slaves felt about their conditions in life. I would like to know if they were conformists or if they fought for their rights. What was it like to be treated like a possession and not be able to decide about ones own life? Were the slaves people already living here in the U.S. or were they imported from other places? Were they used to the fact of being slaves?

♥ What I Know
♥ I know that the first Africans in America were unwilling immigrants who arrived on slave ships before 1600. They were treated badly and beaten if they did not cooperate with the Spanish who captured them from home. The Spanish would take as many as they could, history shows that the slaves were literally laying on top of one another just to fit in the ship. The slaves did not have room to use the bathroom, if they had to potty, they had to do it right next to each other without cleaning themselves afterwards. About ten million African people were captured in Africa to be sold as slaves in North & South America as well as the islands of West Indies.

♥ What I Want To Know
♥ I am pleased to know that we are reading a autobiography on one of the most famous ex-slave, Olaudah Equiano. I am excited to hear his descriptions of what he and the other people had to endure during these horrible times. I hope to get a better insight on the past.

What I know: slavery has been an ongoing travesty as far back as we can date. American slavery started when the Africans were migrated from Africa to American. Many did not survive only on the sail there. They were not paid and whipped, separated from their families, and really lived no lives except serving their owner. They were not counted as people or human beings (until later on).
What I want to know: I would like to know the dating on slavery. Where it still is going on in this world. The details of those situations on slavery still today. I want to know if it is legal wherever they are performing slavery. What would happen to someone if they broke the laws of slavery.

I don’t know that much about slavery. I know that many people brought slaves form Africa. I know that they were treated differently because of their skin color. I know that it is not fair to own a person. I know that many of the African Americans did not survive in their trip over here. They worked really hard for nothing. I would want to know more about how they survived. What made them keep on going if they were treated so bad. I would like to know how they let themselves be treated badly anyway. Who was the first person to think of them as inferior.
