Title: San Diego Union Tribune
I read about a man who was carjacked at knifepoint Friday night after agreeing to give a woman a ride. The man was at a taco shop on East Vista Way at about 11 p.m. when a woman approached him and asked him for a ride home. As they drove a white pickup with 5-6 men pulled in front of him and blocked the road. The men pulled the driver from his vehicle, held a knife to his chest, and demanded his car keys, wallet and cell phone. The frightened man ran to a nearby home and called 911. Deputies later found the man’s car abandoned In the street. Early yesterday deputies stopped a white pickup and arrested two men and a woman on suspicion of carjacking and attempted kidnapping

*Peavy, Padres start September off right
The Dodgers got stomped out boy. Jake Peavy wins his career- high 16th game with help from Mike Cameron, who hits a grand slam. Peavy is enjoying his healthiest season as a major leaguer. The 26-year-old turned in his eight scoreless outing of the season. The Dodgers were overwhelmed yet again.

-The san Diego union tribune
-The article that I read today was about the rebirth of Lincoln high school. In it, it said that the wait is finally over. The new Lincoln high school- bigger, better and at $129 million, the most expensive campus in the san Diego unified school district reopens today. When the old Lincoln was torn down four years ago, more than a few residents doubted whether the 54 year old institution in the southeastern san Diego neighborhood of Lincoln park would be rebuilt. Doubt has been replaced by optimism- optimism that local black and Latino students finally have access not only to an impressive campus, but also to a quality education without having to leave their neighborhood. All Lincoln students will be required to take a sequence of college preparatory classes needed to qualify for state university admission. They will have access to advanced placement classes and vocational training for careers in science, engineering, public safety, and the arts. It is expected that as many as 2400 students in grades 9 through 12 are expected to attend the new school. This is about three times the average enrollment of Lincolns waning years before being resigned and rebuilt from the ground up.
-I think that this article is pretty interesting. They are making history because many parents were saying that they were making less of minorities with the old Lincoln high school.
-One thing that I learned is that this school gives our community hope. And it will instill in the students a sense of pride.

Heat definitely not taking the Labor Day weekend off
This past weekend, the temperatures in San Diego tripled. Some parts of the County were left without any electricity power. National Weather Service states that cooler weather won’t occur until later on this week. Yesterdays heat is said to one of the highest to be recorded from the past. Other desert and valley areas of Southern California were said to go up to about 100 degrees or more. This unstable weather has not only brought heat, but concerns of sudden thunderstorms in valleys, mountains and deserts. Areas in San Bernardino and Riverside were issued a flood warning as of yesterday. Heat has become more harsh due to the moist in the air. This hot weather is so intense that when night time comes the weather doesn’t seem to cool down. At around 7pm about 10,000 houses were still left with out any electricity. Problems were said to be fixed yesterday at around 2, but actually wouldn't be worked until later today. Hopefully this weather will cool down, because there is a lot of use in electricity. And I know that all this use will be expensive. I can’t wait until it rains!!

+ San Diego Union Tribune
+ Our Region
+ This morning I read about how the city was ordered by a judge to pay the Chargers 1.9 million. The city of San Diego has 90 days to pay the Chargers their money for revenue the team lost when the city altered Qualcomm Stadium to accomodate the disabled fans. Superior Court Judge Rafael Arreola issued the ruling after the Chargers filed a lawsuit in July to recover the money.
+ Another article I read in 'Our Region', was about an accident that left a man died in Saturday. The man was killed while trying to cross Route 76. He was hit by a car at about 3 a.m. near Pala Indian Reservation. His name was Gabriel Garcia Penaloza believed to be about 21 years old and was a resident of Valley Center. Gabreil was pronounced dead at the scene and this scene is still being investigated by California Highway Patrol.
+ The first story about the Chargers was boring to me and had absolutely no affect me. The second story is just one of those stories that makes you feel grateful to be alive.
+ One interesting fact would be that an arbitrator in 2006 ruled that the team was owed $1,9 million for four years of losses in ticket, concession, and merchandise sales when the city removed the seats for the disabled.

CRAIG'S RESIGNATION

Idaho’s senator, Larry Craig, had to put in his resignation after his involvement in a sex scandal. The senator spoke for only five minutes and he did not answer press questions or address directly his reason for resigning. Many were glad of his resignation since he was a powerful advocate for republican positions on major issues in the west. Many of his colleagues showed sympathy for Craig and his family. Others defended him yet his resignation was personal and of his own free will. Craig said he was sorry and that he apologizes for his actions and what they might have caused. Yet from this experience we can clearly see how everybody makes mistakes and the slightest error can ruin a lifetime of hard work. It's interesting that the newspaper did not mention what gender the person involved in the scandal was. They only mention that it happened in an airport restroom.

Today I read about Chargers exhibition season ends with victory. The receiver buster Davis diving catch over cornerback Shawn tea Spencer as he fell into the end zone in the second quarter. Still Philip rivers gates and LaDainian Tomlinson never left the sideline. Rivers was more involved throughout the game than most starters. He did in fact relay play to the quarterback. It was a lot of rivers said it keeps you really involved. we got the second group going and they got a lot of plays in turner said. He also forced a fumble with a tackle on a fourth-quarter punt. Undated rookie nick roach had a sack and was in the backfilled a lot.
Will I think that we will get first place this time.
I think that it was good that the Chargers won I was happy to see them win.
I think that they did good in all there games and think that they are going to get better at it and for the new men are going to make the team better.
the most that I like was that Philip rivers gates and LaDainian Tomlinson never left the sideline I think that it was good that they did not live cause new men in the team needed them will that’s all I got to say.

This morning I read an article on, a babysitter that backs a SUV over a toddler. It had taken place in Santa Ana, when a young boy had died on Friday after he was accidentally ran over as his babysitter backed a sport vehicle out of the driveway of his families home. [police had stated] The accident had occurred around 3 pm in the gated community the toddler lived in. They believe that the “23-month-old boy ran outside of the house and tripped and fell behind the vehicle . There haven't been no charges that have been filed against the babysitter who is 33 years old. The babysitter was a friend of the family and feels that she is greatly at fault for the accident had occurred. I think this article was very sad :/ I mean I would be very very upset if I had a child and he/she was killed by a close friend of the family. I really hope that everything with the family and baby sitter works out for the best.

Union Tribune- Idaho’s Craig resigns Senate seat in wake of sex scandal.
Today I have read a short article on Idaho’s senate. Senator Larry Craig of Idaho announced his resignation yesterday. It is said that he had solicited sex in an airport restroom. He apologized for what he had done and said he was deeply sorry. The senator spoke for about five minutes but did not answer questions and or address the reason for his resignation. He said that he would plan to go to court to try to reverse the guilty plea he entered to a charge of disorderly conduct in a men's restroom in June. Many people believed that he was a strong advocate for Republican positions. Many people supported the Senators decision to leave the senate. I think since he is a senator he shouldn’t be doing things like that or if he is he should have been more discrete about it. I think that is very disrespectful for his family, specially for his wife and if I was her I would have left him.
