san daygo union tribune. ♥

This morning I read an article on the art festival in Old Town. This article was mainly about how people were in a hurry to go through all the booths at the art festival to get to the air races. There was a crowod of about 25,000
people at this year's event and the air show did not seem change the outcome of people coming. The festivak features local and out-of-state- artists specializing in media, blwon glass, wood carvings, metal work, and textiles. They wanted to promote arts and increase exposure to Old Town and they succeeded.

reflection. ♥
I see myself as a more creative and artistic individual but I wouldn't get anything out of going to art festivals. I would have much rathered going to an airshow.

interesting fact. ♥
Among the more prominent artists to to present was the former Disney Studio creative director who specializes in interpreting iconic characters such as, Daffy , Mickey Mouse, & Tasmanian Devil. =]

Title: San Diego Union Tribune
Today I read about a group of U.S. airmen entered a sod-covered bunker on North Dakota’s Minot Air Force Base to collect unarmed cruise missiles bound for a weapons graveyard. They pulled out a dozen cylinders, all of which appeared identical from a cursory glance, and hauled them along Bomber Boulevard to a waiting B-52 bomber. The airmen attached the gray missiles to the plane’s wings, six on each side. After seeing the missiles on the right side, a flight officer signed a manifest that listed a dozen unarmed AGM-129 missiles. The officer apparently did not realize that the six on the left contained nuclear warheads, each with the destructive power of up to 10 Hiroshima bombs. This detail would have no notice for an astounding 36 hours, during which the missiles were flown across the country to Louisiana air base that had no idea nuclear warheads were coming. It was the first known flight by a nuclear armed bomber over U.S airspace without special high-level authorization in nearly 40 years.
I think it is crazy how they find so many bombs and stuff, I could just imagine how many bombs they haven’t found!

- The San Diego Union Tribune
- Major crimes up 25% in Mexico in first half of year.
- the article that I read today was about the crime percentage. This is in Mexico city, the gangland style murders and kidnappings reached record levels during the first half of the year. A report from Mexico's congress has found. Mexico city suffers from more homicides that is to say violent deaths than any other region in the world. The report was a setback for Mexican president Felipe Calderon whose war on drug trafficking rose 25% in the first half of the year 2007. in 2006 the same crimes had risen 22 % over the previous year. So far this year there have been 1588 such crimes compared to 1080 in all of 2001. kidnapping is a multimillion dollar industry in Mexico. The report from congress indicates there are about 4500 kidnappings a year a third of which are reported. It is also reported that Mexico is the second most dangerous country for journalist after Iraq.
- I think that this article is very interesting. I am really fascinated by all the deaths and crimes happening in Mexico. I think that these crimes are just going to keep going up.
- One interesting that I learned is that Mexico has more homicides than almost any part of the world.

Green is out

Green is going out of style with the earth workers. So they decide to spice it up a little bit by putting a little bit of art in it by redecorating everything in the house with none harmful things. Owners and builders will be at each stop on the tour to answer questions about what they did to remaster this beautiful house. These tours will start at 10 am., noon, and 2-4p.m. If you buy tickets the first day the second tickets will be free and you will get your money back. I feel this would be a good experience for kids because it show children you don’t need high powered machines to live nicely. I think that people from a;; ages should go and as I reflect I see that there are people who need this tour to cheer up there lifestyle.

BUSH SEEKS ADDITIONAL $50 BILLION FOR MILITARY

About a quarter of that large amount of money is to go to armored trucks built to withstand roadside bombings. This came from the Bush administration’s plans to increase its 2008 financing request. This would bring their finances to almost $200 billion. Pentagon officials say this money will go to get new equipment and protective equipment for troops. Defense officials say that the Pentagon would need $141 billion in the Oct.1 fiscal year. The additional money will be presented by the Defense Secretary at a Senate hearing today. These new armored vehicles will be mine-resisted, ambush-protected vehicles. The Bush administration would put in a request for 7,000, but they say that number will double.

I think this is a good thing to do but it means only one thing: the war is not close to over. I think that Bush should just retreat some soldiers before Iraq starts chemical warfare. I do agree with the armored vehicles will be new and improved though.

Congress increased the budget for the vehicles from $2.6 million to $3.8 million.

Aztecs take second in Oahu X-country. The San Diego cross country team placed second, yesterday. This team was paced by Lisa Naucler. The event was the 4K big wave invitational. It was located at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course in Kaneohe, Oahu. Six Aztecs finished in the top 20. Lisa ran it in 15minutes and 13 seconds and then the fellow teammates came shortly after all within the 15 minute range. Aztecs earned 60 team points.
It makes me proud to be a San Diegan. They should continue practicing hard and compete with all they’ve got to come first place on the next race. Lisa is an inspiration.
I found it interesting that women finished fourth in the 13 teams and men finished fifth out of the 11 teams.

50 miles South of the U.S. mexican border, along a stretch of dramatically beautiful coastline, Sempra energy is enetering the final construction phases of iys energia Costa Azul liquefied natural gas terminal.
Lng is a supercooled, liquid version of natural gas. the fuel used wideley to heat water, warm homes, and drive electricity-generating plants.Converting the gas to liquid allows it to be shipped aboard specialized tankers and traded around the world.

Retiree, a survivor of Auschwitz, had Nazi as a neighbor.

In Mesa, Arizona Nathan Gasch [a survivor of the holocaust] and Martin Hartmann [an ex SS Officer] lived next door to each other for 4 years in a retirement community home. At first sight, you can tell where each of them had been 6 decades ago. Gasch still has numbers tattooed on his arm, and Hartmann still has pictues of him in a Nazi hat. Gasch said he found out that Hartmann was an ex SS Officer when Hartmann and his wife invited Gasch into their home when he first moved into the complex. As soon as Gasch saw the picture, he walked out of the house. Hartmann is very nice, although he has a horrific past. He became an American citizen and is loved by his neighbors. Gasch is still uncomfortable about the situation living next to someone who was an enemy. Hartmann was forced to move back to Germany last month after investigators tracked the man's history through immigration records, old rosters and other documents. Hartmann agreed to move back to Germany knowing he cannot return. Gasch is sure that Hartmann and his wife knew that he was a Holocaust survivor because his tattoo is still in his arm. Gasch was shocked that Hartmann was deported back to Germany but he was not sorry. His words were "He was one of them."

I think its pretty crazy that he could last 4 years living next to an ex SS officer. And i think its cool that there were never any problems between the two. But im pretty sure there was always tension because Gasch can never be comfortable. I'm happy that Hartmann could agree to leave with no problems left behind.

Reflection:
Reading this article i feel that there is too many different ways that people are dying.I think that the easiest way to lower crime rate is to not let the first crime get away so easy.

Interesting Fact:
It is intersesting that Mexico has rocketed past columbia that has become worlds most ransom capitol.

Retiree, a survivor of Auschwitz, had a Nazi as a neighbor
Holocaust survivors who have immigrate to the US for a better life, live everyday with horror from their remembrance of what had once happened to them in their past days. In Mesa Arizona lived Nathan Gasch one of those few people who survived from the horrible torture by Hitler in Germany. Next to Gasch there lived Martin Hartman and his wife, Hartman who was once a Nazi. Gasch like many others are tatted with some numbers on their left arms, that was used to indicate all the victims of the Holocaust by Nazi. Gasch stated that one day Hartman and his wife invented him over to their house acting friendly, Gasch agreed to come in. That was when Gasch noticed I picture of Hartman posed with a Nazi hat . Gasch explains that as he viewed the photo he left the house with discomfort. After that Gasch never reported anything to authorities, thinking that maybe it was not that big of a deal. Later investigators when through Hartman's history where they discovered that he was once an armed SS guard at Germany’s Sachsenhausen concentration camp during the World War II. There at the camp prisoners were forced to slave labor, treated to horrific medical experiments and lots of torture. When authorities realized Hartman’s past they sent him out of the US and sent Hartman and wife back into Germany. As many refugees have left their homes to come here to US for a better life, there are some people that never deserved that freedom. I think those bad people shouldn’t have the same freedom. But sometimes there's nothing that can be done . But later one will pay for all the bad things they once did.

I have read a short article in the union tribune titled: Iraq wants security agents to stand trial. In Iraq the authorities want the U.S to keep away all contracts in Iraq with the Blackwater USA within six months. They also request that they pay $8 million in compensation to the families for the 17 people killed when its guards sprayed a traffic circle with heavy machine gun fire last month. They also want the US to hand over the Blackwater security agents to face trial in Iraq for the Sep. 16 shootings. This incident has raised questions over the use of private security contractors to guard U.S. diplomats and other officials. The Iraqi investigator charge the supposedly four Blackwater vehicles called to the square began shooting without any reason. The Blackwater said that its employees came under fire first. The Iraqi government said that 17 Iraqis died and initial reports put he toll at 11. The Iraqi government said that the totaling 136 million dollars was high because the Blackwater uses employees who disrespect the rights of Iraqi citizens. They have said that Blackwater’s license to operate in Iraq expired on June second 2006. They have also reported that they Blackwater guards have killed 21 Iraqi civilians and wounded 27 in previous shootings. I think that they need to get their information correct before they start accusing anyone. They are saying a certain amount of deaths and later they increase it. I think that the U.S officials or who ever is in charge should look into this because they are making them look bad.
